Throughout history Crystals and gems have been connected to different periods of the year. Eventually this was used to connect precious stones to the months of the year and later to birth dates.
Personally, I do not believe in “Choosing” by your birth date, because there is no choice here. Some one else made the choice for you. Its important that you “do the work” and allow yourself to connect.
Also and more so: Not all the people bourn on the same day are the same, and we go through personal changes all the time. So it makes no sense that we “need” the same Crystal thru out life

The use of gems according to dates of the birth was prevalent in Europe during the 18th century.
There are many different lists as regards to stones and their months.
Below is the list that was adapted formally by the jewelers organization in the US:
January – Garnet
February – Amethyst
March – Aquamarine or Bloodstone
April – Diamond
May – Emerald
June – Pearl, Moonstone or Alexandrite
July – Ruby
August – Peridot
September – Sapphire
October – Opal or Pink Tourmaline
November – Topaz or Citrine
December – Turquoise or Zircon
In addition to each one’s known birth sign there is also a connection and effect of other signs according to the time of birth. When choosing a stone according to the birth date, you have to take into account the additional signs relevant to the chart. Nevertheless, the intuitive choice is of great importance. If stones would be chosen according to the date of birth only, we would keep the same stone throughout our lives. Since one goes through many mental, spiritual and physical changes, it is not logical that the same stone will always do. In addition it is important to use ones own energy in choosing the stone.
